This policy explains what information Sympnote collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We've kept it short and in plain English because privacy is the whole point of a health app.

Who we are

Sympnote ("we," "our," "us") is a mobile app that helps you capture symptom notes and turn them into a clear brief to share with your doctor.

What we collect — and what we don't

What stays on your device

By default, everything you put into Sympnote stays on your phone. This includes:

• The symptom notes you type or speak
• Your voice recordings
• Personal context you enter during onboarding (age, sex, allergies, pregnancy status, conditions, tracking style, focus areas)
• The names and roles of clinicians you add to your care team
• Your appointments
• The briefs Sympnote generates
• Your app settings and preferences

This data lives in encrypted local storage on your device. We do not have a copy of it on our servers.

What is sent to third-party AI providers

Sympnote uses two third-party AI services to organize what you record:

• Google Gemini (operated by Google LLC) — used to generate clinician-ready briefs from your notes.
• OpenAI (operated by OpenAI, Inc.) — used to extract structured fields (symptoms, severity, triggers, body system, etc.) from each note as you save it.

This processing happens only when you take an action that requires it: saving a recording, generating a brief, or re-running extraction on an existing note. Before any of this happens for the first time, Sympnote shows a dedicated in-app consent screen that names both providers and lists exactly what is sent. You can revisit the disclosure anytime in Settings → Privacy & data → AI data sharing.
